Why is John Cena better in The Suicide Squad than Fast & Furious 9?

For John Cena fans in India, August is a great month. The Suicide Squad was released last week and Fast & Furious 9 is due out next week. The old superhero movie is essentially a smooth reboot of the original Suicide Squad which returned in 2016. It features DC supervillains, to be precise, including Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Bloodsport (Idris). Elba), King Shark (Sylvester Stallone), Peacemaker (John Cena) and Rick Flag (Joel Kinnaman). The two-hour film is written and directed by James Gunn of Guardians of the Galaxy – the man who was fired and rehired by Disney for his controversial tweets.

In this episode of Gadgets 360’s Orbital podcast, host Akhil Arora chats with associate editor Shayak Majumdar, who is steeped in DC comics, to discuss The Suicide Squad.

Spoiler alert: If you are planning to watch The Suicide Squad but haven’t watched it yet, you shouldn’t listen to our chat right away and watch the movie first.

The Suicide Squad has notable similarities to Deadpool 2 in 2018 Although it has no direct connection to the movie based on the Marvel Comics character Deadpool, the film has a storyline full of blood and death that reminds us of the previous one. Title.

James Gunn, director and screenwriter of The Suicide Squad, brings his own take on everything. One of the key things that sets the film apart from other superhero movies that have a villain roster is the mass murder, even of the main characters. Of course, Gunn promised that before release.

In the second half of the episode, Akhil is joined by Ali Pardiwala and Jasmin Jose, two of our Fast & Furious fans, to talk about the ninth chapter of the series, F9. The film was released internationally in May and will hit Indian theaters on August 19. Universal Pictures originally planned to release Fast & Furious 9 in 2020, but has been delayed several times, one of which was due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Fast & Furious 9 is directed by Justin Lin and is the sequel to Fast & Furious 8 (also known as The Fate of the Furious) released in 2017. Quite honestly, there is little connection from a Fast chapter to the other. The nearly two-and-a-half-hour film brings Vin Diesel back as Dominic Toretto with Cena as his younger brother Jakob Toretto. Michelle Rodriguez as Letty Oritz, Tyrese Gibson as Roman Pearce, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges as Tej Parker, among other cast members are also back.

Understandably, F9 continues the franchise’s love for plenty of unrealistic and physics-defying action scenes. The main characters in the film are also simply invincible – a joke that the film itself is devoted to – and do not die even when they fall from a great height or face a serious accident. They are basically superheroes, like in The Suicide Squad.
