WhatsApp features for iPhone: WhatsApp is rolling out three new features for iPhone users

After being in beta for a while, WhatsApp is now rolling out new features for iPhone users. The latest version — 22.2.75 — of WhatsApp is now available for download for iPhone users and brings these new features to the Meta-owned instant messaging app.

New voice recording feature

WhatsApp users on iPhone can now pause and resume while recording voice messages. The feature had been in beta mode for a while now, but has now rolled out publicly. Users will now see a pause button when recording voice notes. This means that users can listen to the voice note before sending it. They can delete the voice note or the option to resume recording is also there. Previously, users had the option to stop rather than pause voice recording.

You can now ensure that only certain users can send messages

This function uses the Focus mode which is available with iOS 15. You can now ensure that certain users can send you messages even if you have Focus Mode enabled. For the uninitiated, Focus Mode is a feature that lets you set your iPhone to DND mode, which means you can choose which notifications to receive. The feature was available for other apps like iMessage, but is now also available for WhatsApp. Note that you will need your iPhone to be updated to iOS 15 or higher to use this WhatsApp feature.

See user profile pictures in notifications

Until now, when you received a notification from WhatsApp, you could not see the photo but only the name of the person who sent the message. With the latest update, you can also see the user’s profile picture in the notification summary. This feature is also available for those who have upgraded to iOS 15 or later.
