It’s the weekend – hooray! We hope you all made it through April Fool’s Day in one piece. It’s been another bombshell week, with perhaps the biggest news being something we’ve all been *kinda* looking forward to but not wanting to admit, and that’s the delayed Breath of the Wild 2 news. 2023. We also have three new games for the Nintendo Switch Online service, which was a delightful surprise. Well, we all predicted it, and it’s been confirmed that E3 2022 has been canceled, with no in-person or digital events taking place.

Now is the time to relax and discuss our weekend game plans. a few mMembers of the Nintendo Life team have done so below, so feel free to read our entries and then join yours via our comments section. Enjoy!

I’ve been making very steady (slow) progress through Kirby and the Forgotten Land, so it’s definitely going to get some playing time. Likewise Triangle Strategy, a game I’ve loved so far; I’m intrigued to see how the story unfolds.

Elsewhere, I’ll also dive into my annual MLB The Show obsession with ’22’ early access. This is the only annual sports game I play and it will probably keep me busy for many months to come.

With the recent announcement of Hyper Light Breaker, I returned to Hyper Light Drifter and plan to complete it this weekend. I know the sequel is Probably unlikely to come to Switch, but it still excites me!

I’m also always on the resident Evil train and I’m currently playing Resident Evil 6. I don’t care what anyone says, this game is damn fun once you get the absurdity of it! I also like how it introduces several legacy characters – it feels like a true celebration of the series, and Capcom has since focused a bit too much on Chris Redfield for my taste.

This weekend is all about two things: Zelda: Skyward Sword, and more Kirby. One is incredibly frustrating, the other is a lovely pink balm.

But I also hope someone in the comments actually reads this, because I have a question: what should I play next? I’ve reached this plateau where I’ve played (or don’t want to play) most of the great games that were on my list, and now I’m lost. I would love something like Stardew or Outer Wilds, you know? Either a cold but satisfying game, or a great clever story game. I feel like I haven’t seen either of them in a while.

Things I learned from last weekend: never play Chronicles of Valkyria with a Pro Controller drift stick. If you think the base game is difficult as is, imagine trying to aim for sniper shots when your crosshairs keep sliding to the left. Until chapter XV of Triangle Strategy and world three of Kirby and the Forgotten Land. A hidden gem of 2020 returned to the eShop this week: Red Wings: American Aces is a “more of the same” sequel, but the first game was so good that I can’t really complain. Plus, they’ve added the most requested feature: online multiplayer!

The game of the week is Slipstream. Coming out next week, it’s mandatory for all sprite scaling runner fans, the out run for our age. Please wait for it!

As always, thanks for reading! Be sure to leave us a comment below with your weekend game plans!
