VIDEO: Detectives seek community help in identifying wanted suspect in series of seven commercial armed robberies | Southern Maryland News Network

The Prince George County Police Department CID – Armed Robbery Unit is investigating a spate of commercial armed robberies that took place across the county starting June 18. A cash reward of up to $ 2,500 is available for information leading to an arrest and charge in these cases.

The chain of thefts began on Friday, June 18, 2021, around 3:30 p.m., when the suspect walked into a grocery store on the 2400 block of Chillum Road in Hyattsville. Inside, the suspect held up a knife, jumped over the counter, and withdrew money from the cash register. The suspect fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction.

The same suspect has since targeted the following businesses between 2:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.:

  • Saturday July 3: Department store – Block 3500 of the East-West highway
  • Sunday July 11: Fast food – 8800 Block of Hampton Mall Drive N
  • July 14: Food Mart – Bloc 1500 du boulevard University
  • July 20: Gas station – Block 1400 of Hampton Park Blvd
  • July 22: Grocery store – 6300 Block of Coventry Way
  • June 24: Supermarket – 7900 Block of New Hampshire Avenue

The suspect is described as a black male, 20 to 25 years old, 5’11 “-6’0” feet tall, with an average build. In each of these cases, the suspect is wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt and is armed with a knife.
