Thanksgiving Day Xfinity Outage Affects Miami FL Area

About 30,000 Xfinity customers from west of West Miami to Miami Beach were thrown back in time to the radio and conversation era by a disruption that cost TV, Internet and telephone services.

A post on an account in Miami’s 33125 zip code said Xfinity was working to resolve the issue before 4:27 p.m., which would be right before kick-off for the second NFL game of the day, the Las Vegas Raiders in the Dallas. cowboys. A disturbance map showed disturbances spanning Miami-Dade County.

The outage struck around 11:30 a.m., when the traditional Thanksgiving broadcast of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade went to the first NFL game of the day, always hosted by the Detroit Lions. This likely caused some gatherings to navigate family and/or political minefields instead of drawing attention to the once again mournful Lions doing their annual version of the WKRP Turkey Drop.

This is an evolving story and will be updated as more is learned.
