Surface Duo gets October 2021 update with security enhancements

Microsoft has released the latest firmware update for its Android-powered dual-screen Surface Duo. As has been the case in recent months, the October 2021 update comes with the usual monthly Android security patch for the device.

This version weighs in at around 51MB, and it’s smaller than last month’s update for the Surface Duo. It is deployed to users in the United States and Europe, but with different software versions (2021.913.25 (North America) and 201.913.26 (Europe)) respectively. However, Surface Duo users who own the AT&T model of the dual screen should also receive these updates.

As usual, the October 2021 updates are rolling out on a phased basis for all Surface Duo users. You can retrieve updates by heading to Settings >> System app and choosing System Update.

Last month, Microsoft also announced the new Surface Duo 2, which comes with a tri-camera setup, 8.3-inch display, 5G support, and more. The Surface Duo 2 is priced at $ 1,499.99, and the company is now preparing to start shipping the device to early customers. We invite you to consult our separate article for more details.
