Skype gets a modernized user interface, rounded corners and more with the latest update





Microsoft released a new Skype update this week, which brings some new features to all platforms. The biggest addition is a modernized messaging user interface for Skype’s desktop and web apps, with rounded corners, new color options, and larger avatars.

In addition to this new messaging experience, Skype also gets a refreshed calling experience and new screen sharing options. Meanwhile, the iOS and Android apps now support a new search bar and updated avatars.

Here are the full release notes for Skype version 8.78, now available on Windows, Mac, Linux, the web, as well as iOS and Android:

  • Resolutely modern messaging: In the theme of light, the rounded corners and added color modernize our design and make your messages sharper. We have also enlarged the avatars.

Finally, Skype’s latest update also includes the usual lineup of bug fixes and stability improvements. The company fixed screen sharing issues during video calls and meetings, as well as a bug that previously caused the app to crash when sharing photos.
