Skylines VR is coming to Meta Quest 2 this month

The VR Port of Fast Travel Games Cities: Skylines hits the Meta Quest 2 store in April and places players in towns they create.

Ahead of launch on April 28, Fast Travel Games released a gameplay video preview that shares some details about Cities: VR (via Eurogamer).

Programmer Martin Larsson talks to fans about gameplay. A lot of Cities: Skylines gameplay is preserved in the port, with players able to build roads, zone areas, and establish emergency services. Taxes will also need to be balanced to ensure that your town can afford to continue operating, although residents will be unhappy if their taxes are too high and needs are not met.

The tools and user interface of Cities: Skylines have been redesigned for VR inputs. Now players can draw their lanes and areas by hand and choose from a literal palette of options, bringing their city to life. They can then fly for a bird’s eye view or dive down to street level and stand in their town.

Players considering picking up the game can now pre-order a 10% discount through the Oculus Store.

Recently, Colossal Order, the developer behind the flatscreen version of Cities: Skylines, warned players that malware was included in the mods. A modder had built several of their mods with malicious code that would target specific players and cause the game to run poorly if other mods were installed.

The malicious modder would then come up with their own “fixed” versions of mods that others had created. Colossal Order explained that “Blocking users or creating specific restrictions for them violates the Steam Subscription Agreement and therefore resulted in the mod being banned.”

In other news, Escape from Tarkov is receiving DLSS support in the coming weeks. Details were shared in a live stream that included new weapons, repair tools, and a Lighthouse revamp.
