Samsung’s August 2021 security patch is now available for the Galaxy S20 series internationally

Each month, Samsung takes a step ahead of security patches by letting one or two slip away in the days leading up to the calendar flip, as it did about a week before, further strengthening its position as king of updates. After taking this lead, Samsung continues to release its August patch for more and more Galaxy smartphones globally.

We started with the Galaxy A52 – it might be a mid-range, but that hasn’t stopped Samsung from providing it with regular updates, and this month it’s the first device to receive the August 2021 security patch.

This changelog was fairly sparse, listing only bug fixes and generally vague improvements. The update has been spotted in several countries, including Germany, Kazakhstan, Russia, and Ukraine.

Samsung quickly followed up with August fixes for a few other A-series phones, including the A8 and the A72. And then it didn’t take long before we saw it make an early fix to the Galaxy S21, from China.

Distribution is expected to expand rapidly to other regions and devices over the next few weeks, and we’ll keep this article updated with all of this relevant information.
