PSA: Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ NookLink smartphone app also updated

NookLink

With all the version 2.0.0 shenanigans going on in Animal Crossing: New Horizons today – IIt was supposed to be tomorrow and we weren’t prepared, Nintendo! – you would be forgiven for forgetting everything about the NookLink app available through the Nintendo Switch Online smartphone app. You might want to remember this just for a second, as it was also updated along with the game.

That’s right, the NookLink app – which lets you view your passport, scan QR codes, use keyboards to chat with friends, and more – has also received a surprise update. When you open the app for the first time after updating, you will be greeted with a message informing you that there are new additions.

These new additions come in the form of an updated catalog (similar to the updates we’ve seen in the past) and an “Island Journal”. The diary will record important events from your adventures on the island, although as you can see in our screenshot below, it will be empty when you first open it.
