On Thursday, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Child Sex Offender Internet Investigation Unit, known as Cheezo, arrested Chad Miller, 44, who is a postmaster for the US Postal Service.

An investigation began in August 2021 when Miller began communicating online with whom he believed to be a 13-year-old girl but was a member of the Cheezo unit, the sheriff’s office said. Miller said he wanted to have sex with the girl, then stopped communicating.

Between March 9 and March 30, Miller again began speaking with a Cheezo unit investigator who was posing as a 13-year-old girl, the sheriff’s office said. Miller said he was postmaster as he continued to talk sexually and described what he wanted to do with the girl.

Sheriff’s Office investigators found Miller at a post office in Elizabeth and arrested him on two counts of online child sexual abuse and child sexual abuse, all of which are two of the felony charges.

In a statement, the U.S. Postal Service said Miller had worked for the USPS since Nov. 30, 2014.

“The Postal Service is aware and takes this matter very seriously. At this time, because this is an ongoing criminal and personal matter, we cannot comment further,” the USPS said.
