Partnering with Comcast allows students across the country to get free internet

PUEBLO COUNTY, Colorado (KRDO) — Pueblo Parks and Recreation has partnered with Comcast to give students free Internet access. A multi-year program called the “Lift Zone” launched by Comcast will provide nationwide Wi-Fi Internet connectivity to the community.

El Centro Del Quinto Sol is located at 609 E. 6e St. in Pueblo County. The building is housed on 2.2 acres of land that includes a skate park and plaza, playground and activity center.

In early March, a “Lift Zone” in Pueblo opened at the El Centro Del Quinto Sol Activity Center for his initiative.

“Through our work on the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), the mayor has asked the City of Pueblo’s Information Technology Department to look at Internet accessibility and expansion in areas where Pueblo needed more support,” said IT Director Lori Pinz. “The “Lift Zone” was something Comcast offered because of the pandemic, and we saw a need on the east side. The City of Pueblo had the space and space available in El Centro del Quinto Sol and realized it was an excellent facility for this project to succeed,” said Pinz.
