Oculus VR becomes Meta Quest VR

Late last year, Facebook announced that it was renaming itself to Meta, inspired by the company’s focus on alternate realities. Now Meta’s Virtual Reality division has been renamed from oculus at Meta Quest. That’s no surprise though, since we expected the name change to happen sooner rather than later. In addition to being an attempt to establish a flak-free brand affiliated with “Facebook”, the rebranding of Meta Quest will also help the company underscore its evolution into the metaverse and a future focused on virtual reality and virtual reality. augmented reality.

the oculus The Twitter handle, which no longer exists, recently announced the change via a tweet. This is a meme that hints that the brand will now be called Meta Quest instead of Oculus. After the tweet was posted, the account handle was renamed to @MetaQuestVR. Ultimately, this is just a rebranding and there will be no change in products or services offered to owners of existing Oculus devices.

This means that all future VR/AR products from the company will launch with the new branding. The Oculus Quest 2, for example, could be sold as Meta Quest 2 once existing units with the old branding run out. Surprisingly, however, the Oculus app on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store still hasn’t received an update with the new branding.

Just a few days ago, we heard that Meta was dropping its own replacement operating system for its VR/AR devices. However, it seems that Meta is serious enough to create an ecosystem of products and services geared towards the metaverse. Another interesting aspect of this is that previously the Quest was just a series of headsets from Oculus that were standalone VR devices. There were also other headsets outside of the Quest series like the Oculus Rift and the Oculus Go. With the rebranding, all new products from Meta going forward will have the Quest tag attached to them.
