Nokia’s simpler phone, the 1.3, hasn’t been forgotten in terms of updating, though the long-forgotten promise that Android One phones will receive major new OS versions in a timely manner is still hilarious in hindsight.
This is because this Android One device is only updated to Android 11 now, a version which is almost a year old. The update is happening in stages, and the first stage includes all units sold in Australia.
The next wave includes all of the other countries and territories where the Nokia 1.3 was available, but HMD Global doesn’t say when to expect the next wave to hit. Hopefully it won’t be more than a few days or weeks.
In Australia it’s going to be quick, by tomorrow – July 24th – the deployment should be 100% complete.
