Super Mario 3d All Stars

Well here’s a surprise – Nintendo has now added support for the N64 wireless controller to the The stars of Super Mario 3D version of Super Mario 64.

In other words, you can now play the classic Mario N64 game, just like when the game was originally released on the N64. Here are the full patch notes for version 1.1.1, courtesy of Nintendo’s official support page:

Worm. 1.1.1 (Posted on November 3, 2021)

  • Super Mario 64 now supports the Nintendo 64 controller exclusive to Nintendo Switch Online members (sold separately). Players can now play this title using the same controls as the original Nintendo 64 version.

It follows version 1.1.0 (released in November of last year), which added GameCube controller support to Super Mario Sunshine. You can read more about this in our previous article.

So there you go – you can now play the NSO version of Super Mario 64 with an original controller, as well as the limited-time 3D All-Stars version that is no longer on sale.
