HAMILTON, Miss. (WTVA) – A family in Monroe County is happy with high-speed internet.

The Monroe County Electric Power Association has spent nearly a year connecting its customers with its high-speed Internet service M-Pulse Fiber.

It wasn’t until January 2019 that Mississippi’s electric co-ops were allowed to legally provide high-speed internet services.

Since then, more than 2,000 customers have been connected to M-Pulse Fiber.

Kenneth Foster’s Hamilton home was plugged in on Friday, October 15.

For about 20 years they could only get slow internet speeds. The same goes for millions of Mississippians who live in very rural areas where high-speed Internet connections are usually hard to find.

Foster and his wife usually work from home, so Friday’s connection was long overdue.

“If you have a slow connection it can take days to get anything – while this [M-Pulse Fiber] will take me an hour or less to get it done,” he said.

WTVA reporter Keaundria Milloy spoke to Foster on Friday. Watch the interview in the video above.
