Earlier this week, robotics student Ken Pillonel shared a video explaining how he modified an iPhone X with a working USB-C port in place of the usual Lightning connector. The USB-C port works both for charging the iPhone and for transferring data.

Pillonel also auctioned the device on eBay, and the auction already exceeds $ 85,000. The listing describes the device as “the world’s first USB-C iPhone” and a “true collector’s item for any Apple fan.”

Offers are accepted until November 11, with delivery estimated at the end of December. Pillonel said that anyone who bids on the iPhone X agrees not to restore, update or erase the device, will not open the device, and will not use it as a daily device. He also warns that the modified iPhone X is “only a prototype”.

The winning bidder will receive the iPhone X with 64 GB of storage in its box, with no accessories included. Pillonel also offers a 30-minute phone call with the successful bidder if they have any questions about the device.
