Longmont’s community-owned fiber-optic internet service provider NextLight placed second in PC Magazine’s speed-test rankings this year.
The 2022 national rankings were based upon upload and download speeds with internet service providers like NextLight needing to log at least 100 speed tests in order to be considered.
Fort Collins Connexion; and Allo Communications, which services Greeley, Erie and other Colorado communities, also placed in the top five for internet speed.
Nextlight came online in 2014 and has been recognized in the past for its internet service including in 2018, when it was ranked the fasted provider in the nation, also by PC Magazine.
“We truly appreciate all the NextLight customers whose continuing support has helped NextLight, and Longmont, flourish and grow,” Valerie Dodd, NextLight executive director, said in a news release Tuesday. “We’re thrilled to once more have the country recognize NextLight and our consistent commitment to providing the highest-quality internet service to the residents and businesses of our community.”
