Lack of time? Refresh and rethink endpoint management





Managing endpoint estates remotely is a growing challenge for the modern workforce. With the proliferation of remote working, IT leaders have more responsibility than ever, and in turn, the demands are increasing. However, the ability of IT teams to meet digital business priorities is often in the background.

Only a third of respondents say their IT team’s ability to achieve business goals is at least “good”, while 44 percent say it is “satisfactory” and 19 percent admit it is “poor” or “very bad” ‘ is.

IT teams are short on time

For many, this is because IT staff gets bogged down in day-to-day management and support, compromising the productivity and long-term development of their organization. Advances in digital capabilities have made BYOD and geographically dispersed devices the norm, but IT teams can struggle to keep up. About half of respondents agree that managing endpoints takes up too much of their IT staff’s daily time, making efficiency and innovation difficult.

Endpoint management should be remote, secure, and seamless for users. They expect instant, fast access, anywhere, anytime. Employees are rarely on site and often stick to their own schedule. Patching, onboarding and accessing their devices remotely, independent of device power and operating system status, is now essential – modern businesses simply won’t maintain proper IT standards without effective endpoint management. As a result, organizations are seeing their IT team’s availability become increasingly depleted where they lack effective endpoint management capabilities.

Review and renew

77 percent of respondents agree that reliable and scalable remote endpoint management would reduce the workload of their workforce. By effectively monitoring and supporting endpoint domains, and updating devices as needed, solutions will have modern feature sets that meet the needs of the organization. According to computer useAccording to the findings, endpoint refresh cycles are typically longer than three years, and about a third of respondents refresh their domain every five years or more.

In many cases, organizations are clearly failing to take a long-term approach to assessing and modernizing the manageability of their endpoints at the point of refresh. Without such an evaluation, vulnerabilities remain undetected and opportunities for improvement are missed.

Monitoring device health and therefore device compliance should be a key initiative in renewing endpoint manageability. As the PC fleet grows, it’s critical to ensure endpoints are up-to-date, performant, and secure to avoid avoidable support issues.

Endpoint manageability challenges and the associated IT workload will remain. To reduce IT burdens, lost productivity and security vulnerabilities, ensure your endpoint is highly visible and performant through regular monitoring and refresh. IT teams can then prioritize and focus on broader digital objectives.
