The internet supports a woman who wants her husband’s boyfriend out of the house because of his inappropriate behavior.
Submitted to Reddit’s “AmITheA**hole” forum, U/ThroawayMerkleRain shared her story about her husband’s childhood friend and how she grows impatient with him living there. The viral post has 10,000 upvotes and 1,000 comments.
The Redditor begins to explain her predicament by telling readers that her husband’s boyfriend, “N,” was nearly homeless due to work problems, or didn’t want to find a job at all. At first, the original poster (OP) felt sorry for N and opened their spare room to him.
According to the National Alliance to End Homelessness, there were approximately 553,742 people homeless in the United States in January 2017.
“N’ seemed okay at first, but slowly he started taking advantage of our kindness,” wrote the OP, “‘N’ is a heavy drinker and since staying with us, he’s made my husband drink too, not only drink when he is drunk he is extremely rude and mocks me and not even in jest.”

She continued: “He makes comments about my weight or constantly tries to set my husband up with other women for me as a ‘joke’. After eating the food I make, he still gossips to my husband about me and they sit together and laugh, “I don’t find it funny. The more I try to let it go, the worse he gets with his comments and actions.”
When she got home from her part-time job, she found that N had invited his friends over and completely destroyed the living room. They ate her food and even damaged property, including a TV.
Raising the subject with her husband makes him mad at her and wants to help a friend because of his “difficult situation.” She explains that N orders her around and she doesn’t have it. When confronting N about her concerns, he called her “selfish” and “ab***h.” He would only leave if her husband told him to.
The OP is afraid he won’t leave anytime soon because he isn’t looking for a job because he drinks, sleeps all day, or is with his friends.
“I’m losing my mind, sleep and all about this. There is no privacy, the house is always dirty and because of this my husband and I have conflicts all the time. I really need him,” she exclaimed.
The “AITA” commentary defended the original poster.
“NTA, you are being taken advantage of and it sounds like your husband and N must be single roommates for a long time,” u/Old_Adhesive_556 received the best comment with over 10,000 upvotes.

“NTA, the police will tell you to go through the eviction process. Submit the paperwork as soon as possible. Video recording on your phone when you give him 30 days notice to leave,” explained u/murphy2345678, “ If your husband doesn’t like it, tell him he can go too. They both treat you like shit. Don’t give up.”
“Blimey, this is one of those I really want to fake… Of course you’re NTA. This guy sounds disgusting and tbh if your man likes this all he doesn’t sound much better,” wrote u/SorellaNux.
