If you no longer want to communicate with someone, it’s a good idea to delete their contact from your WhatsApp list. This way they don’t clutter up your chat list anymore, and we’ll show you how to do it from your iPhone or Android phone.
When you delete a WhatsApp contact, you are essentially deleting the contact from your phone’s address book. This means that the contact is completely gone from your phone and will not be available in other apps on your phone. There is no way to delete the contact from WhatsApp without deleting it from your phone, although blocking someone on WhatsApp can have a similar effect.

Delete a WhatsApp contact on iPhone or Android
To start the contact deletion process, launch WhatsApp on your iPhone or Android phone.
In the top bar of WhatApp, tap on the “Chats” tab.
In the bottom right corner of the “Chats” tab, tap the “New Chat” icon.
All your WhatsApp contacts will be displayed. Here, find and tap on the contact to delete.
On the contact’s chat screen, at the top, tap the contact’s name.
If you’re using an iPhone, tap Edit > Delete Contact to delete the contact.
If you’re on Android, in the top right corner, tap the three dots and select “Show in address book”.
In the upper right corner, tap the three dots and choose “Delete”.
Confirm deletion of the contact by tapping “Delete” in the prompt.
And your selected contact is now deleted from WhatsApp as well as from your phone. You are ready.
