Franklin Company Partners in VR Esports Leagues – WISH-TV | Indianapolis News | Indiana weather

FRANKLIN, Ind. (Inside INdiana Business) – Franklin-based Harena Data is teaming up with Phenomena VR in Canada to launch a series of competitive virtual reality esports leagues. Harena Data, who bills herself as an esports community aggregator, said she will “bequeath” and manage the tournaments and competitions taking place in the VR esports arena in Phenomena.

Phenomena says the arena is the first-ever free roaming VR arena that allows players to roam around an open space without the need for a supported cable management system or backpack.

CEO Awane Jones said the company has spent the past two years researching and developing to bring the arena to 10,000 square feet, making it capable of being used in more than 100 arenas in the world.

“Phenomena VR is one of the most technologically innovative companies in mixed reality,” said Bill Dever, chief strategy officer at Harena Data. “Their 360-degree immersive technology and virtual reality arenas can create highly competitive environments, perfect for esports leagues. We believe this is the next generation of entertainment and competition.

Harena Data says the VR esports tournaments will start with three games, including a VR laser tag game, a co-op shooter, and a VR dance rhythm game.

The partners did not provide a timetable for the holding of the first tournaments.
