A disabled mermaid cat has become an internet star after being shot in the head and left for dead.
Owner Janez Jeretic found three-month-old kitten Sally after she was shot in the head and left for dead in a local park in 2013.
He took her to an emergency vet, where X-ray scans showed she was paralyzed as a result of her injuries and said the moggy would never walk again.
Determined to give her a chance at a quality of life, Janez, then a student, adopted the disabled kitten.
He bought a wheelchair with his student loan debt to give her some independence.

He then got the idea of a mermaid costume after some friends came over and were a bit startled by her inability to walk.
Janez, 30, from Santiago, Chile designed the tail on paper and had a friend sew it together.
Now nine years old, Sally has become an internet star, posing regularly in her light blue fuzzy tail and specially designed wheelchair.

Janez shares her life on Instagram @sallymermaidcat to show the world that cats with special needs can live happy, fulfilled lives.
“I want people to see Sally the same way I see her, as this beautiful magical creature who has suffered a lot but is now very happy with her life,” Janez said.
“I have to make sure I put her bladder on three times a day and make sure she has enough room to move around without getting stuck.

“Hearing her purr and knowing she’s happy makes it all worth it.
“According to the vets, she doesn’t feel anything under her neck, so I don’t think she sees the mermaid tail.
“But she can’t curl up to keep her body warm, so the material helps with that.
“Disabled pets may require a little extra work from you, but they make great companions and are sure to add some magical moments to your life.”

Pisco is a golden British shorthair and when he begs for food, with his paws up, he bears more than a passing resemblance to the animated cat voiced by Antonio Banderas.
His owner created an Instagram profile for the animal and now Pisco has more than 614,000 followers
The famous cat lives a luxurious life in New York, with all the toys and attention his heart desires.
