You should also ensure that nothing else is using your internet connection or running on your computer while running the test.

What do broadband speed test results show?

The tool measures the response time, or latency, of your broadband connection, as well as your upload and download speeds.

Response time, measured in milliseconds (ms), indicates how quickly you get a response after sending a request. More responsive connections – indicated by a low number – are needed for timing-critical applications, such as interactive video games.
