British Police Warn Parents About the Internet’s Creepy ‘Huggy Wuggy’ Bear’s Song

The police of a county in South West England has issued an official warning to parents to prevent their children from watching a certain animated character. The character in question is a blue bear named Huggy Wuggy. From the name, this character born in a game called Poppy Playtime seems harmless, but in fact it is quite the opposite. Launched in 2021, the horror game is set in an abandoned toy house and the players must outrun the game’s creepy antagonist, Huggy Wuggy. The Huggy Wuggy character is made to send shivers down your spine when spotted in a terrifying way.

The bear is tall, blue, covered in frizzy hair and has razor sharp teeth in an ultra-wide mouth. The character, although created in the game, has crossed boundaries in the digital world and has become a sensational character on social media platforms such as YouTube and TikTok.

In the song ‘Free Hugs’ the lyrics are disturbing and certainly not suitable for children. The song has lines like, “I could hug you forever, until you take your last breath together,” and “I’ll be there soon, sink my teeth into it and you’re consumed.”

“There are videos that people have made, songs that people have made and it’s popping up all over YouTube and TikTok. It’s based on shock reactions and things you definitely wouldn’t want to expose kids to,” said Chris Conroy, Cyber Protect. Dorset Police Officer, on Dorset Live.

The officer added that parents should exercise caution as content related to Huggy Wuggy can slip into the algorithm even if parents are using YouTube Kids. Following on from this example, parents across England have started receiving advice from schools, advising them not to let their children watch Huggy Wuggy.
