In what may be one of the most far-reaching theories about Brian Laundrie’s disappearance yet, internet sleuths claim the fugitive may be hiding in a bunker under a flower bed in his parents’ yard.
Mr Laundrie is wanted for questioning in connection with the death of his fiancée Gabby Petito, who went missing while the pair were on a road trip together. Her body was discovered on September 19 at a campground in Wyoming and her death was considered murder. Mr Laundrie has been charged with one count of bank fraud and police identified him as having an interest in Mrs Petito’s disappearance. He has been missing for several weeks.
Drone footage purporting to show Mr. Laundrie’s parents, Chris and Roberta Laundrie, gardening in their Florida home has been widely circulated online.
In the video, a woman who resembles Mrs. Laundrie tends to a flower bed while an unrecognizable man stands nearby.
TikTok users made the unlikely claim that when Ms. Laundrie bends over to the ground, a hand reaches out of the flower bed and hands her something, which she puts in her pocket.
TikTok user, charlienovasite, posted a clip with zoomed-in drone footage, writing: “There’s definitely someone there. You can’t change your mind.”
Another internet sleuth, mamabear_xo, also shared the video on Tiktok, stating: “Brian is under the garden bed. Watch him hand his mom something.”
The original source of the music video and when it was shot were not immediately clear.
Other social media users were quick to ridicule the theory, pointing out that the laundries’ home had already been searched by the FBI, the report said. New York Post.
“I can’t believe people actually think Brian Laundrie is in a bunker under their flower bed. Realistically, who would happen to already have an underground bunker in their backyard OR build one by the time they realized Gabby was missing,” Twitter user Erin Burns wrote.
Another Twitter skeptic, Nancy Elizabeth tweeted: “Stop this ridiculous story about Brian Laundrie hiding in a stupid flower bed in the parents’ backyard. It’s not funny at all.”
According to his parents, Mr Laundrie has been missing since September 13, when he left to go hiking in the Carlton Reserve. In recent weeks there has been a major hunt for him, which has largely focused on the 25,000 hectare nature reserve.
