Angharad Yeo: The 10 Funniest Things I’ve Ever Seen (On the Internet) | Comedy

I am a child of the internet. I’ve always been drawn to computers and technology, begging my dad to take us to his office on the weekends so we could use the high-speed internet to play Neopets games. When I got older it was all MSN, MySpace, Paramore fan forums, Tumblr, Twitter and now TikTok. I want nothing more than to zoom out and look at my little pictures.

One of my favorite things about the internet is that you can see everyone’s best joke. The moment in their lives when they were definitely the funniest – whether it was because they were having a brilliant moment or because they were pulled through a panel roof while rehearsing for a high school play (I assume).

The internet has rotted my brain with the following content. Now please let it rot yours.

The Pandemic Years are (and remain) difficult for everyone. Who among us hasn’t at one time or another felt the need to explain ourselves by saying, “It’s a mental illness, isn’t it?”

2. Perfect burger

When I showed this video to my fiancé, she said bluntly, “I like how absurd it is.” That’s her code for “I don’t get it, but I’m glad you’re happy”. And I ben Merry. See how confident and brave this citizen is – ready to take on the world, come what may. I want to be the citizen.

I went to court exactly once because I accidentally got in the way of a cop and he was grumpy about it so he booked me in. The sentence was dismissed, but not before I cried in court as I tried to explain what had happened because I was so stressed. Court is a daunting place and I just can’t imagine walking in there with any degree of irreverence. However, I’m really happy that there are people who just don’t care, say damn things and then an internet angel turns them into TikToks.

4. Turtle Choir

This tweet is made all the more majestic by the vaguely menacing Sylvanian Families-style profile picture, on a Twitter account called @bigfatmoosepssy.

5. Try coffee with pasta water

Climate change is slowly turning the Earth into a bald ball of pain, as Mother Nature chides us for being extremely bad. While individual responsibility for climate change is not enough to turn the tide, I applaud those who are trying. Twitter user @madibskatin woke up in the morning and decided to be the change she wants to see in the world, taste buds are damned. You could argue that it’s pretty obvious that pasta water isn’t good coffee, but as my dad says when he puts pineapple juice in his coffee, ‘If nobody tries, how do we know? What if it’s secretly good?”

6. Hover, fly

If you look closely, this video is actually a metaphor for the ways in which we try to break free from our circumstances, but are completely at the mercy of it.

7. You Can’t Fool Me

This may be a parody of Twitter, but the ghost of Gail Walden speaks the truth. There is no sweeter victory than that which is won on the soil of your enemy.

8. Self-deprecating jokes

Humor is a coping mechanism. I save myself.

Dairy products are delicious. soft ice cream? Revolutionary. Cheese? Change life. Whipped cream on a pavlova? Essential. But milk? Awful. It’s not a drink, it’s a stepping stone to greater things.

I am absolutely 100% not lactose intolerant at all (I promise) so I have absolutely nothing (not even a little bit) with this video.
