Amazon closes telehealth service Amazon Care

Amazon is shutting down its in-house telehealth service a month after agreeing to buy an American healthcare provider in a $3.9 billion deal designed to accelerate its drive into the sector.

The technology group said Amazon Care, a service launched for its own employees in 2019 before extending it to those of other companies, will be wound up by the end of the year.

“This decision wasn’t made lightly and only became clear after many months of careful consideration,” Neil Lindsay, senior vice president of Amazon Health Services, wrote in a note to staff seen by The Times.
