Subnautica is, in our opinion, the best survival game. Its standalone expansion Subnautica: Below Zero is also excellent. So it’s good news that Unknown Worlds devs, despite being bought by PUBG devs and working on something in a whole new genre, are also working on something new in the “Subnautica universe” . This according to a job posting published this week.
We are looking for a Senior Narrative Designer to work with us to shape the next game in the Subnautica universe! 🖊️🌌
Come join our fully remote studio and let’s create great games together. See full job description here 🔽 https://t.co/SfOKSmKpkT

“We are looking for a Senior Narrative Designer to work with us to help shape the next game in the Subnautica universe,” tweeted the unknown worlds Twitter account. The tweet then links to a job listing with a bit more detail:
Unknown Worlds is looking for a Senior Narrative Designer to join the team working on the next game in the Subnautica universe. This person will work closely with the team to tell compelling and dramatic stories within the context of the game experience, while defining the history and lore of a new sci-fi world and its alien inhabitants. This person has a unique opportunity to join the team early in development and help establish the narrative direction of a beloved franchise.
According to the job listing, takeout is “a new sci-fi world” and “early development,” but that’s far from a game announcement. As far as we know, this new game in the Subnautica universe could be a match-3 mobile game about aligning fish triplets. As far as we know, this new game might be canceled next week. But, if you like Subnautica – and I’ve seen the comments, so I know many of you do – then it’s a small tease to suggest that you might one day be terrified of a strange mollusk again.
